Caster's Trap Walkthrough

I have procrastinated long enough. Time for the ultimate walkthrough to Caster's Trap. Use CTRL+F to find what part you are on in regards to this index or item. EX: type "#K" to go to the "Three Endings Pathways" portion of the game.

#A: First Entering-----------------------------

A1.1: Porch
    Obtainable Items: Small Brass Key; Crystal Shard; Single Match
    The first thing you want to do is to go into your inventory, and use your flashlight. You can look at the newspaper for the story's sake. Go to the box immediately to your right. Grab the key. Note the rocks in the box; it'll come back in the soon future. Go to the table's top-right side. Interact with it to find a crystal shard (10 for secret ending). Go to the barrel on the top-left. Retrieve the Single Match. [NOTE: IF YOU WANT TO UNLOCK ENDING #1: TRULY TRAPPED, DO NOT USE JUST YET]. Open the door and enter the main household.


A2.1: Kitchen
    Immediately go up to the kitchen (2). Read the journal on the right. You may interact with the other items, but collectible items cannot be collected until later.

A2.2: Living & Dining Room
    Obtainable Items: Strange Paper; Hoop Fragment
    Go down to the Dining Room and interact with the crate left of the table. Choose to reach in fast. Go to the barrel in the room with the fireplace. Interact with the broken barrel on the lower-left corner.

A2.3: Hallway
    Go into the Hallway (3) and interact with the middle left and right doors. For the right door, choose to look through it.

A3.1: Closet (Note: Not necessary to come here yet).
    Nothing can be gained from going in here yet. Only things to do is to make note of the basin of salt and NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide) on the shelf. You may leave at anytime.

A4.1: Top-Left Room
    Obtainable Item: Crystal Shard; Hanger (Optional)
    Read the book on the table. Go over to the upside down stool and interact for another Crystal Shard. Note the chest. You can unlock it much later. Leave.

A5.1: Collect
    Obtainable Items: Paper; Bottle; Sac; Salt; Life's Elixir; NaOH; Aluminum Rock
    You have a visitor. Oh boy. Continue down to the kitchen (2). Collect the sac on the table and the bottle in the cabinet. Go over to the sink to retrieve Life's Elixir. Leave and go to the porch. Remember those rocks in the box on top of the table on the lower right? Those are the aluminum rocks. Leave and grab the paper from the fallen cabinet in the dining room. Go to the closet. Grab salt from the basin and NaOH. You have everything you need.



#B: Wedged Item Door------------------------
    Go the door with the wedged item in the door (left of bottle bang door).

B1.1: Paper
    Obtainable Items: Crystal Shard; Skeleton Key
     Use your paper under the door. Use the Hoop-Fragment. Obtain both items.

B1.2: Hanger
    Obtainable Item: Skeleton Key
    Use this method only if you used the Hoop-Fragment already. Use the hanger at the door. Obtain the key only. You do not receive the Crystal Shard for this is the simplest and most obvious alternative. If you want the secret ending, restart to before you used the Hoop-Fragment and slide the paper before using the Fragment.

B2.1: Inside
    Obtainable Items: Agatha's Letter; Lantern; Mysterious Key
    Immediately below you, is Agatha/'s Letter. Read it. Retrieve the lantern in the middle of the room. Interact with the bones on the bed to retrieve a Mysterious Key and get a cold, unwelcome visitor. Leave when you are done.



#C: Bottle Bang Room-------------------------
    Use the Bottle w/all them stuff to get in.
C1.1: Inside
    Obtainable Items: Bucket; Lighter
    Up top is a bucket. Grab it. It can be filled with water at the kitchen sink, which is used to burn the corpse (topic H1.1).Go over to the boy and interact with him for the lighter. Open your inventory and use your lantern. It's way better than the flashlight.


#D: Mysterious Room-------------------------
    Top right room.

D1.1: Inside
    Obtainable Item: Crystal Shard; Bronze Key
    Interact with the fallen shelf left of the bed for a Crystal Shard. Light the candle on the lower right corner. Find the item sparkling and obtain the Bronze Key. Read the note on the top right for a foreshadowing hint. Outside in the hall, you can light the candle near the bathroom for a foreshadowing secret.



#E: Across Kitchen Room---------------------
*Note: Lantern should be on by this point.

    E1.1: Items
    Obtainable Items: Kitchen Lighter; Vegetable Oil; Cold Dirty Block - > Key
    Go into the closet with your lantern on. Sparkling on the ground is the Kitchen Lighter. Go to the living room with the fireplace, light the candle right of it to reveal the Cold Dirty Block. Go into the kitchen and light both candles. The Vegetable Oil should be shining on the floor. It's a little hard to see, so look carefully at the floor. Go to the sink and use your Cold Dirty Block to reveal a Key Frozen in Ice. Walk to the stove and use your Kitchen Lighter. Make sure it is not the Lighter, but the Kitchen Lighter. Use the Key Frozen in Ice to reveal a key. The last door can now be opened.



#F: Basement---------------------------------
*You should have four Crystal Shards by now.

    F1.1: The Cellar
    Obtainable Item: Crystal Shard
    Go the the broken barrel beneath the broken jar, near the candle. There is a Crystal Shard in it. You may inspect the hexagram if you like, but nothing can be done just yet. Go into the room beneath it.

    F2.1: Room Behind the Stairs
    Obtainable Item: Crystal Shard
    Inspect the table and receive another Crystal Shard. Make note that there is one candle in this room.

    F3.1: Room in Front of the Stairs
    Obtainable Items: Crystal Shard; Small Key
    As you walk through the cellar to get into this room, count the number of candles here. Inside, count the number of candles here and then go over to the small chest. The answer is the number of candles with respected to the room (2-3-1). Go straight down and examine the coat for another Crystal Shard. Examine the bear for more foreshadowing. Exit the cellar to meet a guess.

    F4.1: Girl
    She will ask you questions, a lot of questions. Ignore those that is evil. When you've finished talking, interact with her and choose the option to walk past her. Make your way to the hexagram and new dialogue will appear. Continue to ignore and then return to the Room in Front of the Stairs. For a cutscene. Leave the room and interact with her for a clue to go upstairs.



#G: Break the Seal----------------------------
*You should have seven Crystal Shards by now.

    G1.1: The Three Items
    Obtainable Items: Bear Pieces; Ring; Music Sheet; Crystal Shard x2
    Go into the top left room, now that you are upstairs, to open the chest and receive a Music Sheet. Leave and go to the unlit candle in the hallway. Save, then light it. After the quick segment, turn on your flashlight immediately. Examine the picture below as to where the six bear pieces are. Adowyn's ring is in one of them. Note: You'll have to go into your inventory and "use" the bear piece to rip it up to find the ring. It is at random.

    If this is becoming too difficult, interact with a candle or object to wait for the girl to leave. When you get the ring, let the ghost touch you. Go to the closet for the eighth Crystal Shard.

    Go back down to the basement where the girl will try talking to you. Go over to the hexagram and use Ring. Go into the Room Behind the Stairs and play the piano. Go back out to the hexagram. Can you guess the last item? It's Agatha's letter. DO NOT USE IT JUST YET. NOTE: IF YOU WANT ENDING #1, THIS WILL BE YOUR LAST CHANCE TO DO SO. GO OVER TO MAID'S CORPSE (H1.1) FOR INSTRUCTIONS. If you decided not to get Ending #1, then proceed with using Agatha's Ring. You may switch back to the lantern t any time for a bigger field of vision. Go into the Sealed Room. In the top left is a bunch of clothes. Examine the hat twice for the ninth Crystal Shard. Examine the mirror if you'd like, but you'r gonna need to go upstairs.



#H: The Maid----------------------------------

    H1.1: Burn the Corpse (For Ending #1)
    Note: Do this only if you want Ending #1. The last chance to do this is before breaking the seal. Assuming you've already obtained the Sac of Salt, Vegetable Oil, Bucket of Water, and Single Match, go into the Skeleton Room. Use the Sac of Salt and Vegetable Oil in any order on the skeleton on the bed. Use your Match. You have about eight seconds to use your Bucket of Water to prevent the room, with you in it, from burning. You are done and will get Ending #1 upon completing the game. H2.1 and H2.2 will not occur in your game.

    H2.1: Find the Pocket Watch
    Obtainable Item: Pocket Watch
    Walk down towards the dining room to trigger the maid. Maneuver your way back to the hall and interact with the basement door to trigger what to do next. Note that the maid will turn around and pause when you're looking at her. You must find the Pocket Watch. Like the bear pieces, the Pocket Watch can be in six different locations by random. Study the picture below to figure out where it is.

Main Room

Now that you have found the Pocket Watch, use it in front of the Basement. Go down and choose to save. Go into the Seal Room for the last sequence with the Maid.

    H2.2: Run in the Basement
    Obtainable Item: Knife
    Allow the sequence to play out. The Maid will chase you endlessly. Eventually, a prompt where the Girl asks if you want help will appear. Choose to let her help, it is the only way to progress. The best route is to walk the largest rectangle without bumping into anything. At some points, you might have to allow her to catch up.

    After asking for the Girl to help you, it will take her about ten seconds to get rid of the Maid. Just continue the same pattern of avoiding her. You are now allowed to talk to the girl without dying. Ask whatever question you're prompted with for the story. Do not use the knife in front of the mirror just yet.



#I: Mirror World-------------------------------

    I1.1: Just Before the Mirror (Last Crystal Shard)
    Obtainable Items: Last Crystal Shard; Knife (Only if you burned the corpse)
   If you didn't burn the corpse, you will automatically have the knife after the Girl rids the Maid. If you burned the Maid's skeleton, the Knife will be upstairs where the skeleton was. Before using it in front of the mirror, go upstairs into the Porch for the last Crystal Shard. Make sure you have all ten Crystal Shards for the secret ending. When you're done, use the knife in front of the mirror. This will be your last chance to save. It is advised to do so.

    In the Mirror World, follow the only path forward. When the Girl asks if you're scared, choose yes. It'll make the final boss easier. If you say "no," or if you are following Ending #1, it's an extra trip to talk to her. Continue the path until the witch finds you. The Girl will be frozen and you'll have to find her. Study the map below to find your path. Interacting with the Floating Crystals will teleport you.


    Upon reaching the Girl, keep interacting with her until she is free. The final cutscene will run.

    I2.1: Ending #1
    The Girl dies, but gives you a power before she does. Light all the purple tiles to progress. After the final scene, go back to where you started on the map. Watch as the credit rolls and wait for the post-credit ending.

    I2.2: Ending #2&3
    Watch the cutscene and when she asks you for power, choose yes. Watch the rest of the cutscene and choose the options as you please. For ending #2, choose the second option. After a few prompts, escape from the Girl. You can run in which ever direction you want. Certain paths will automatically close off. Upon reaching the end, the credits will roll.

    If you choose to let her possess you, you will get ending #3. Just follow the cutscene to the credits.



#J: Post Credit Ending-------------------------

    Talk to the person to get a special message from ME :D. Talk to me again for secret ending or to end the game.



#K: Three Ending Pathways-------------------

    K1.1: Ending #1: Truly Trapped
    Be sure to keep the match. It's the only way to burn the maid's corpse in the skeleton room. Salt and oil first. Salt is found in the closet, while the sac is found on the kitchen table. Be sure to read the book in the top left room in order to make burning the corpse available. After burning the corpse, the pathway towards this ending is absolute. Note, however, that the final boss is much harder for you must light all the purple tiles.

    K2.1: Ending #2: The Anonymous Hero
    Be sure to never burn the maid's corpse. At the very end, the demon girl will prompt you to either: let her possess you, or both to stay in the mirror world forever. Choose to stay in the mirror world forever. You are then forced to run. DO NOT TOUCH THE GIRL FOR IT WILL FORCE A GAMEOVER AND YOU WILL HAVE TO REPLAY THE WITCH BATTLE. Run anyway you like. The girl will cut your path wherever you go. They are somewhat cinematic, so be sure to try and find the dead ends :D (and you won't die, so don't worry. Just never touch her).

    K3.1: Ending #3: A So-Called Paradise
    Probably the simplest and most casual ending. Choose to let the girl possess you at the very end (while staying in the mirror world forever is the other choice). It's a straight cutscene so just enjoy.



#L: All Crystals-------------------------------

    Below are pictures of the location of all the crystals. Note, the last picture, or 11th picture is plan will not be added until the 1-3 patch.

I really liked the game but to be honest i had to play it more than once because it has an order and every time i reach to the bad ending or a missing crystal shard, so i had to open your detailed walkthrough to get to the true ending#1 + all crystal shards, overall i loved the adventure of experimenting the hunted house and the horror on each scene i reach it's so inspiring to create a game which I'm currently working on.
    one more things, i think you missed an ending
    - when i did not burn the corpse and put both ring and Agatha's letter and before going to the sealed room i couldn't find the knife nor the pocket watch so i returned to the basement when the girl told me no need for the knife and that i was supposed to burn the maid first before breaking the seal , the maid appeared and the girl sold me out XD "have fun" she said, there was no way out!! this was supposed to have an ending name, no?
    Anyhow thank u so much for the game i really enjoyed it i also played both true endings #2&3 :) they were nice too.

    1. I'm really glad to hear that you enjoyed the game enough to play it several times :D! As you probably noticed, this is a rather old game and was my first ever published one. To that, excuse me on my rookie mistakes xD. As for the potential missed ending, the maid girl was supposed to continue prompting you if you needed help until you accepted. It was the only way to get passed. As for an ending name, now that you brought it up, I really should have made one! At some point, I plan to play this game on my channel and when I do, I'll certainly come up with something and do so in credit to your cleverness :P
