TOP 5 FREE RPG Maker Horror Games Released in 2019 that I Played

List Last Updated: December 27th, 2019
Previously Last Updated: December 26th, 2019

Update log at bottom page.

This list is constantly updating as the title year continues. Any games that gets replaced from this list have been moved to the honorable mentions. Last thing to note: this list does not necessary mean the game has been released in 2019. It could have been released in 2003, but received a major update in 2019. Be sure to take note of the Rel. Date.

Please note that most of these games are demos. Do not let that deter you! Most demos are 30-90 min and are absolutely well worth the playtime! If anything, they should leave you excited for the final release.

#5: Dead Dreams (demo) | Length: 20-40 minutes | Download Here | Created by: Aiaz Marx
Rel Date: 2019

If you like Silent Hill, if you like PT, if you like grotesque humanoid monsters, you'll like Dead Dreams. This game is filled with puzzles, scares, fantastic music, and monsters. This game is constantly getting updated and the developers seem to really care about the feedback that the community is giving. Overall, this game is fantastic and a must try for anyone who likes horror.

#4: Dream of Gluttony | Length 2-3 hours | Download Here | Created by: UminoAoi
Rel Date: August 21st, 2019

Playthrough Above. Spotlight Below.

Cute on the outside, devilishly twisted on the end. You play as a girl named Sissy who finds her way into a magically world where everyone seems to be some kind of food! Or so they're named to be at least. The start is a bit slow as it takes its time with building setting and character. However, once things gets twisted, this get twisted! I enjoyed the twist so much that I decided to give it a Spotlight 6 min video that you see on the bottom. This game is truly a hidden gem that anyone who enjoys story-based Indie Horror Games should give a try.

#3: Easter 2.0 Def. Edition | Length 2 hours | Download Here | Created by: Carrot Patch Games
Rel Date: April 21st, 2019

Technically released on Easter 2018, this game got a mighty update that the developer decided to call it the Definitive Edition. If you are itching for a thriller, this one scratches and leaves you bloody. You play as Easter who decide to go on a road-trip with friends only to be caught in an outrageous thunderstorm. So what's your move? To take shelter in an abandoned cabin. Even worse, there's a killer lurking somewhere in there. To be honest, I'd place this as #1, but due to the disturbing story and graphic images of this game, I place it here for those not able to stomach all too well. Never the less, this one is very well written with a true ending you must see.

#2: No Delivery (demo) | Length: 60 minutes | Download Here | Created by: oates
Rel Date: June 18th, 2019

This game is GOOD. It is an actual RPG turn-based game that has been fused with elements of your typical puzzle horror game. You play as an randomized employee out of several employee classes (Delivery Boy, Security Guard, Waitress, Mascot) at a run-down, fun by day & twisted by night pizzaria: Stezzoni. This game plays on taking "Wrong Turns," which are essentially dungeons to grind for money and items, added with cryptic lores and story building. If you enjoy Mother and games inspired of the likes, you'll enjoy this one.

#1: The Devil's Womb | Length: 120-150 minutes | Download Here | Created by: Insane Kat Games
Rel Date: June 1st, 2019
Whoa. Just whoa. This game is amazing! (Also rated for maturity due to nudity, grotesque imagery, and among other things you can get an idea from the synopsis). You play as who appears to be a demonic child in an abyssal world prior to birth. This game is crafted in such a way that will leave you stunned with how well everything fits together. If you enjoy dark psychological games, then this one is for you.

Honorable mentions:

Dark
I personally love this game, but it's very challenging. Also, this one is more of an action horror than a horror puzzle.

Annex Hall
Designed for a Game Jam, Annex Hall takes place in an apocalyptic world. You make your way to the end through combat of obscure, glitch-like creatures. The combat system is at first unique, but with more development, this game could make it to the top 5 list.

Kamikakushi
An adorable game that also features a bit of voice acting! This one is more of a JRPG type of horror game that is built around the story of a 14-year-old Shrine Maiden. A few bugs when I played, but overall a good experience.

The New Us
A post-apocalyptic world that feels inspired by the Mother games. It has quirky characters with an underlying sense of horror. This game features simplistic RPG combat against horrible monsters within its wasteland.

Claroscuro
Beautiful artwork, beautiful music, fantastically written story. Only reason this isn't on the top five list is due to how little the demo showed for its gameplay.

Lonely Ep1: The Descent
A demo to a really fun game. Inspired by Silent Hill, you play as a man with suffering from anxiety and depression as you make your way through a hellish world crafted beautifully yet terrifying.

Polarvoid
Short, simple, and fun. The game shaped-out a little different than how the intro premised the game. However, this game had a rich underlying story that can hit close to the heart.

RICA/R.I.C.A.
A very simple story with very simple puzzles. This isn't the type of game to make you jump from your seat, but I found the simplicity to be very mentally stimulating. The game revolves around following your cat into a hell-ruled castle.

Black, White, and Grey
Cliche story about friends and betrayal. However, don't let 'cliche' stop you. It's well put together with a good ending worth obtaining.

Death and Progress (Commercial Game)
Simple and fun puzzles. Not exactly horror, but with horror elements for fear of death. The true ending is a bit difficult to obtain, but the feeling of accomplishment is well-worth it.

Reverberation
I would have placed this as #5, but the game was canceled. However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't play this. It had a really good premise with a fun other-world. This game left me with a "I hope the creator doesn't stop making games" kind-of-feeling.
